Event Experience in Action

SMA: Don’t Adapt to Change – Create It!

From major sporting events to industry forums and high-profile conferences, SMA is working at the forefront of the international events landscape in Australia, connecting our partners with the right people to position events where they deliver the biggest impact.

SMA is attending future-focussed forums across the sports, tourism, government, business and entertainment marketplace, working with partners and stakeholders to optimise opportunities that lift events tourism.

General Manager Partnerships and Commercial – International, Corey Bell, said the expanding SMA footprint meant greater collaboration with major stakeholders. “SMA is in the big conversations at major forums, conferences and in strategic symposiums,” Corey said. “With 25+ years of experience, we are the big picture alliance drawing on decades of event placement expertise.”

Corey Bell says the third quarter of 2026 is a great example of the breadth and depth of SMA’s involvement across the events ecosystem, with SMA taking a lead role in major events. These included:

  • Women in Sport Summit | Adelaide
SMA was proud to curate a dedicated stream bringing together government, sporting organisations and industry suppliers to explore the opportunities shaping women’s sport and the broader events landscape.
  • SportNXT | Melbourne
Our Partnerships team will be on the ground at SportNXT, connecting with leaders and innovators across sport, business and events. SMA partners can access a special discounted ticket offer — visit our website for details.
  • LGAQ Annual Conference | Cairns
SMA will be exhibiting at the 2026 LGAQ Conference in October, connecting directly with Queensland’s Councillors and Council CEOs. It’s an important opportunity to display how strategic event placement can deliver economic, tourism and community outcomes for destinations.
  • Q Sport Conference | Brisbane & Townsville
SMA will be both attending and presenting at Q Sport, continuing our contribution to the conversations influencing the future of sport, events and destination development across Queensland.

At the inaugural Q Sport Sports Strategy Summit, Corey Bell represented SMA as a panellist alongside senior leaders from sport, business and events organisations. With close to 300 industry representatives in the room, the summit provided a powerful platform to explore how Australia can maximise the opportunities created by the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games along the Green and Gold Runway.

“This is more than a calendar of conferences,” Corey said. “SMA understands the people, places, organisations and opportunities that make great events happen. SMA has the networks and market intelligence to navigate and create opportunities in this landscape.”
