Lake Macquarie City Council has joined SMA’s Events Placement Program, an initiative that drives events tourism in cities and regions across Australia and New Zealand.
The program operates in more than 60 destinations and has delivered more than $4.8 billion direct spend into local economies since 2001.
SMA is Australia’s leading events placement specialist with our team identifying the best locations and support for events, while attracting interest and funding for LGA’s to grow their sports and entertainment tourism industry.
SMA Director, Craig Gibson, said over 20 years SMA had formed unsurpassed relationships with leading sporting organisations, event promoters, the entertainment industry and government agencies at all levels. “The Lake Macquarie region is a fantastic location and this will bring a new dimension to the Events Placement Program,” Craig said.
“We are really excited to welcome Lake Macquarie City Council on board. The Hunter region was identified by SMA as one of keen strategic interest and we feel Lake Macquarie will be a great fit due to their unique waterways, strong tourism attributes, proximity to Sydney and also the existing events infrastructure.
“The Council has an existing strong portfolio of annual events which we are excited to build on, creating another level of dynamic events.”
