Lake Macquarie will host part of the prestigious 2023/24 NSW Beach Volleyball Tour this Summer attracting large crowds and bringing an upbeat event vibe to the region.
The tour displays the highest level of beach volleyball competition in the state and provides a competitive environment for both premium and developing athletes. Elite senior and junior athletes are invited to compete over the Summer at different destinations with the Lake Macquarie event taking place on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of November at Blacksmiths Beach.
Between 150 – 200 participants and officials attend each competition, over 2 days and it is expected that more than $292,600 will be injected into the local economy through associated Events Tourism for this leg of the tour. Twelve courts will be used during the event with Volleyball NSW installing the infrastructure for all courts creating an exciting event space. The community can get involved with free ‘Come n Try’ sessions on the Friday afternoon before competition.
SMA Partnerships Manager, Steffan Jurd, said the event would showcase the region as a beautiful tourism destination. “Beach volleyball is an entertaining sport to watch, creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere which is appealing to the wider community,” he said. “It is also an easy sport to participate in at any level.”
