Moreton Bay is serving up something special with the region officially launched last month as the Home of Table Tennis in Queensland!
In a game-changing partnership facilitated by SMA, Moreton Bay City Council and Table Tennis Queensland (TTQ) signed a seven-year agreement that cements the region as the premier destination for table tennis events across the state from 2025 to 2031.
Kicking off in 2025, the South Pine Indoor Sports Centre in Brendale will take centre stage as the official host venue for all Queensland State Championship events. The powerhouse partnership positions Moreton Bay as the go-to location for major state, national and even international table tennis tournaments as Queensland builds momentum towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The South Pine Indoor Sports Centre has capacity for up to 40 competition-grade tables, seating for over 200 spectators, ample free parking, modern change rooms, a canteen and versatile meeting spaces. Recently renovated and designed for multi-sport use, the centre can transform into show court mode with space for 1,500+ fans, setting the stage for world-class events.
The action continues with the 2025 National Veterans Championship in Moreton Bay from October 18–25, 2025 which will attract up to 600 participants from across Australia. SMA General Manager Partnerships and Commercial (International), Corey Bell, worked with City of Moreton Bay and TTQ to forge the partnership. “Moreton Bay isn’t just hosting events,” he said. “This region is working with TTQ to make history with Moreton Bay becoming the heart of Queensland table tennis for the next generation.”
