Under a new agreement, the event will be hosted in Moreton Bay in 2024, 2025 and 2026 and is worth around $2.7 million per year. It attracts around 1,800 Masters players and officials to celebrate softball in a competition held across 17 women’s and 7 men’s divisions. Participants and their accompanying guests at each championship are expected to attract around 10,000 people.
This is the premier softball event for Men and Women competitors aged 34 years and older from across Queensland and interstate including NSW, VIC and NZ. The event sits in the high-performance category in Softball with a high percentage of elite level players from the national Over 35’s championships.
SMA has placed the championships in Moreton Bay for a number of years and Partnerships Manager, Steffan Jurd, said the championships were huge. “The event focusses on the social, off-field element of players reconnecting with their peers from across the country, friends who they played with, and against, throughout their representative careers since juniors,” he said.
