Gold Coast AusTriathlon Centre of Excellence  

SMA Director, Jason Sleeman, has attended the official opening of the AusTriathlon Centre of Excellence on the Gold Coast, marking an exciting new chapter for high-performance sport.

SMA assisted with development of the partnership that led to this Centre of Excellence being established on the Gold Coast.

The centre represents an important long-term investment in AusTriathlon and this facility strengthens the Gold Coast’s position as the leading destination for high-performance sport, major events and sports innovation. Located at the Miami Aquatic Centre, the hub provides a world-class environment for Australia’s leading and emerging triathletes to train, develop and perform. The centre will be the home of elite coaches, high performing athletes, sports science professionals and high-performance experts, all in one location. 

SMA worked with the City of Gold Coast, Invest Gold Coast and AusTriathlon to enable the Centre of Excellence being established on the Gold Coast. With Brisbane 2032 firmly on the horizon, facilities and partnerships like this play an important role in creating the right environment to develop the next generation of top Australian athletes. 

SMA Director, Jason Sleeman, offered his sincere congratulations to Tim Harradine and the team at AusTriathlon for their vision and the careful planning that went into the AusTriathlon Centre of Excellence. “Matthew Hauser and other athletes spoke about this facility being a game changer for the sport in the run up to 2032 and they highlighted the many ways the centre will enhance the performance of Australian athletes,” Jason added. “Congratulations also to City of Gold Coast and Invest Gold Coast for the foresight shown in assisting with funding for this project and for recognising an opportunity for the considerable economic and sport development and the community benefit this centre will deliver to the Gold Coast for many years.”
