Rockhampton Hosts Hockey Australia Country Championships

Rockhampton Regional Council will host the prestigious 2025 Hockey Australia Country Championships, a signature sporting event which will inject more than $2.4 million into the local economy.

The eight-day national tournament will bring together the finest regional hockey talent from across Australia in August 2025. The Australian Defence Force (ADF) will serve as the official host of the championships, adding a unique dimension to the event.

Rockhampton Mayor, Tony Williams, said having national, international and Olympic standard sporting facilities like Kalka Shades meant the region could nurture truly outstanding sporting talent and secure events that boost the economy and create jobs.

The championships feature both men’s and women’s competitions and more than 770 players, and their families are expected to stay in the region. Advance Rockhampton’s Tourism and Events Manager, Zac Garven, said promoting the region to peak bodies like Hockey Australia aligned with the local economic development strategy and put Rockhampton on the radar as a destination of choice.
