A team of 92 Australian gymnastics judges converged on the Gold Coast recently for a prestigious global sports conference ‑ the International Judging Course, endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) and facilitated by the Oceania Gymnastics Union (OGU).
Held at one of Australia’s premier sporting destinations, this elite course provided an opportunity for judges representing six gymsports to gain or maintain their Category 2 or 3 international accreditation, positioning them for future roles at world-class competitions — including the road to Brisbane 2032.
Sports Marketing Australia (SMA) was proud to lead the way with the strategic placement of this event through the Invest Gold Coast Sport Attraction Program, facilitating the partnership between OGU and the Gold Coast. Judges were hosted at the stunning Mercure Gold Coast Resort, secured through SMA’s Preferred Suppliers Program, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience.
Hosting this event in Queensland ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Games further strengthens Australia’s presence in global gymnastics with High-Performance sport driving destination demand.
SMA Director, Jason Sleeman highlighted this growing trend. “We’re seeing a spike in interest from international High-Performance Training Camps and conferences seeking placement into Australia in the lead-up to 2032,” he said. “Councils nationwide are eager to tap into the economic, branding, and community benefits these events deliver. It’s an incredibly exciting time for our industry.”
