The recent Women In Sport Summit 2024 presented by the Ministry of Sport and held at the Star Gold Coast, has attracted international attention with more than 500 participants who were inspired by some of sport’s most influential female leaders.
The summit was a forerunner to the success of female athletes at the Paris Olympic Games. Australian champion cyclist, Grace Brown, set the tone with a gold medal in the time trial on day one of the Olympics and our women went on to win 13 of Australia’s 18 gold medals and 32 of the 53 medals across a range of individual and team sports.
The Women In Sport Summit now in its 6th year, was all about highlighting the power of women in sport and included an esteemed lineup of domestic and international speakers who have worked in global and domestic organisations and who are influential in levelling the playing field for women in sport.
SMA was thrilled to be involved in the event with our General Manager Partnerships and Commercial, Corey Bell, taking part in a fire side discussion with former Hockeyroo and AFL Player, Georgie Parker, (pictured below) on the importance of partnerships and the commercial opportunities.
One of the most popular session was with Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Relations, Ilene Hauser, who reflected on the importance of relationships within the sports industry. She highlighted the power of connecting people and ideas to foster innovation.
